Challenges
Racenet aimed to bring together social features, competitive play and performance insights from multiple EA racing franchises into a single cross-platform application. A key challenge was integrating complex web experiences into React Native while making them feel and behave like native screens. The app also needed to support phones and tablets, integrate securely with EA Account services, and provide a responsive, real-time experience for hundreds of thousands of active users.
My Contributions
- Designed and built the native ↔ web communication layer, enabling secure authentication and seamless interaction between embedded web experiences and the React Native app.
- Worked across both web and mobile codebases to deliver a consistent, native-feeling experience.
- Optimised key features—including Performance Analysis, F1 Leagues, WRC Clubs and Leaderboards—for phones and tablets with responsive layouts.
- Developed cross-platform features using React Native for iOS and Android.
- Owned the Friends platform, integrating EA Account services for player discovery, friend requests and social interactions.
- Implemented push notifications and deep linking across the application.
- Collaborated closely with designers, backend engineers and web developers to deliver a cohesive product across multiple EA racing titles.
Outcome
Racenet successfully unified EA’s racing ecosystem into a single cross-platform experience used by more than 920,000 active players. By combining native and web technologies, the app delivered advanced social and competitive features while maintaining a consistent user experience across iOS, Android and tablets, contributing to an App Store rating of over 4 stars.
